Smart Gilas Pilipinas vs Jordan, FIBA Asia Championship Semi-Finals

The Philippines' Smart Gilas is battling against Jordan in the semi-final round of the 2011 FIBA Asia basketball championship in Wuhan, China on Saturday, September 24, 2011. Gilas with a good start so far in this tournament leads in the 1st quarter, 18-12. The ball is too slippery for the Jordanians that they committed 6 turnovers against 2 from the Philippines.


Jordan gets aggressive in the second quarter, Wright leading the offense, changed the lead in 1st half of the quarter. Toroman called for a timeout in reaction to Jordan's rally. When the game resumed Marcus Douthit restored order and reclaimed their lead. Jordan tightened their defense leading to Gilas' misses in the field. The first half ended with Casio's fast break layup blocked by Zaghab, spoiling a buzzer beater from the Philippines. Philippines lead Jordan, 28-27 at end of the first half.

Jordan opened the second half with Wright's triple that changed the lead. Gilas trailing until the end of the quarter. The Filipinos could not solve the zone defense of the Jordanians, missing every possession. Philippines 41 - 49 Jordan at end of 3rd quarter.

Jordan keeps on pounding the Philippines with their triples. The lead keeps on widening at every minute with their penetrations and Gilas' turnovers. Ealier in the quarter, Gilas made a little run starting from a monster put-back dunk from Williams to cut the gap by 4 points. But, the Jordanians simply answered with 3 consecutive treys. They never looked back and pummeled the Philippines all throughout the quarter.

Jordan wins 75-61 over Philippines.

Result by Quarter:  12-19, 27-28,49-41,75-61
